Welcome

The Vtáčník Folklore Ensemble from Prievidza has been active both at home and abroad since 1969, spreading awareness of Slovak folklore, traditions and customs. Our repertoire includes dances from Horná Nitra, Horehronie, Zemplín and Terchová. The choreographies are also based on the seasons, for example, work during sowing and harvesting, the end of work in the autumn associated with fun at the harvest festival, or hemp spinning which took place during the winter. You can find photos of the dances in our gallery.

As part of our commitment to preserving traditions, we also offer wedding ceremonies. During the wedding, at midnight, the bride's veil is removed and a traditional bonnet is put on, while the groom's feather is replaced with a hat. All this takes place to the accompaniment of music and singing. The young bride and groom thus become a young woman and a young man. If you are interested in a traditional wedding ceremony, please don't hesitate to contact us.
